There are many abandoned animals and few people who can and want to help. But each of us can take five steps that can help solve the problem. 

1. Neuter cats: spaying and neutering is an excellent regulatory tool to address the growing population of stray cat colonies that are unadoptable. Such cats often live in substandard conditions and have high mortality rates or difficult survival with uncertain fates. 

2. Adoption: there are plenty of cats in shelters, and for every one that finds a home there are five more waiting for the same good fortune. Cats rescued from the streets can bring just as much happiness into your life as purebreds with PP.

3. Responsibility: before you decide to adopt, please consider all possible aspects because once you bring a rescued pet home, you are responsible for it, so please avoid making an ill-advised purchase or giving a pet as an inappropriate gift. If you find yourself with an animal that has no home and you cannot care for it yourself, contact a shelter near you and you will be sure to get help.

3. Say NO to breeders: if you want a particular breed from a cattery, make sure the cattery has all the requirements they are obliged to have, check references and the conditions in which the cats are kept.
