Oil and acrylic on canvas

size 100 x 50 cm

no frame

I like to think back to my childhood, and with that comes my long-standing relationship with the books I adored. One of them is my favourite Beetles by Jan Karafiát. Who wouldn't know them. And that's where my inspiration for this painting came from.

"Obediently until death" ... then they just took everything down and put it all away, covered everything inside and out with moss, - they had it - they prayed some more:

What a chicken's hen,

To thy protection we look.

Kind Lord

and kiss, and they lay down and slept and slept and slept ... and it was cold. Oh, it was cold, bad cold! The streams were fogged to the bottom, the birds were falling from the air, - it was freezing till it sparkled. Oh, the bugs under the juniper, will they stand it? - let them. But if they freeze, they will freeze...
